Message from the Dean

Dear Alumni, Colleagues, and Friends,

Laurie Badzek, LLM, JD, MS, RN, FNAP, FAAN

As always, I hope this letter finds you all in good health and high spirits. As we prepare to embark on the fall semester, I simply want to take a moment to thank you all for your continued support of the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing and express how thrilled I am at the prospect of gathering together for all the many exciting events we have planned in the year to come.

Enhancements to our nursing programs across the commonwealth are a top priority, ensuring that newly enhanced state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, and study spaces are accessible to all. In addition to our building expansion at University Park, I am especially proud to share the completion of the renovated nursing space at our Scranton campus, marked by a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held in early October. These improvements truly reflect our commitment to transforming education, ensuring the best possible resources for our students and community.

I also want to ensure I make room for other priorities and personally invite you to both our upcoming Alumni Tailgate and Homecoming Parade – a perfect opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni, faculty, and current students. As well, your support in mentoring our current students has a profound impact on their success and of the healthcare systems that they will work for after graduation. With this, I encourage you to consider joining our mentoring program and continue making a difference in our nursing community.

It is also with great pleasure that I introduce you to our new associate dean of graduate education, Vinciya Pandian, PhD, MBA, MSN, ACNP, FCCM, FAANP, FAAN, FFNMRCSI. Pandian comes from Johns Hopkins University and brings with her a wealth of knowledge in nursing education and research, with a focus in tracheostomy care. Her leadership will undoubtedly propel our graduate programs into a new era of excellence, further equipping our students with the skills to meet the needs of our ever-evolving healthcare landscape.

Additionally, I encourage you all to stay connected with our college by following us on our social media channels for future college events and updates, student and faculty highlights, and much more!

Your unwavering support and presence are the greatest gifts of all. Together, we are cultivating the future of healthcare one Penn State nurse at a time.

Be well,

Laurie Badzek, LLM, JD, MS, RN, FNAP, FAAN
