Simulation

The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing has various options for simulation-related professional development and training. Learn more below.

Evaluation in Simulation: Using Data for Quality Improvement and Curriculum Development

This on-demand webinar identifies three ways to use simulation evaluation data for quality improvement and competency-based evaluation. It also explores the key components of the Evaluation of Learning and Performance standard as listed in the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Practice™.

The delivery of this seminar is associated with a small fee of $20. However, college faculty members are encouraged to email nursece@psu.edu to discuss a few exemptions.

PREBRIEF: Preparing Students for a Successful Simulation

This on-demand webinar discusses the importance of prebriefing to prepare students for a successful simulation experience. Topics that will be covered include the role that prebriefing plays in preparing learners for a successful simulation-based learning experience (SBLE), the key components of simulation prebriefing as listed in the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice™, and developing a plan to incorporate an effective prebriefing into your SBLE.

The delivery of this seminar is associated with a small fee of $20. However, college faculty members are encouraged to email nursece@psu.edu to discuss a few exemptions.

Debriefing to Promote Clinical Judgment: Use in Simulation, Clinical and Classroom

This on-demand webinar provides a brief introduction into the importance of the debriefing process during simulation, clinical and classroom time, while providing a foundation for skills needed to proctor and facilitate effective debriefing. Topics that will be covered include the criterion necessary to meet the Healthcare Simulation Standard of Best Practice™, various theory-based debriefing methodologies, research supporting the debriefing process and ways to integrate these techniques into current teaching styles.

The delivery of this seminar is associated with a small fee of $20. However, college faculty members are encouraged to email nursece@psu.edu to discuss a fee exemption.

Current Topics in Simulation

This on-demand webinar offers exploration of considerations when planning a simulation-enhanced IPE (interprofessional education) experience, identifies potential uses of hybrid simulation to meet learning objectives in all three learning domains (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor), and assists with developing a plan to incorporate all the elements of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) Clinical Judgment Measurement Model into simulation-based learning.
