October 31, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Speaker Bio: Mary Elizabeth is an oncology clinical nurse specialist, currently working on her DNP at PSU. While her primary focus is now palliative care, she collaborates with the department of geriatrics at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where she has worked for over 30 years. She has worked closely with the Oncology Nursing Society and NICHE on geriatric oncology initiatives and has published on financial toxicity and symptom management in the ambulatory setting for older adults with cancer.
Presentation description: Mary Elizabeth will discuss the need for comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) for older adults with cancer, detail the use of eRFA, an easy to use electronic CGA, and review outcomes using eRFA. Attendees will acquire knowledge of statistics related to the risk of developing cancer with increasing age, recognize the value of a CGA to assess older adults undergoing cancer therapy, and value the utility of the eRFA to reduce morbidity and mortality post-operatively for older adults with cancer.
