DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY

PhD in Nursing >>

The PhD program prepares nurse scientists to provide leadership through scientific inquiry and innovative practice. Faculty of the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing believe that significant learning at the doctoral level occurs best within a mentor-type model. Highly individualized plans of study provide each student the opportunity to develop depth of expertise and research capability within a specialized area. The PhD program has two entry pathways based on your previous education and nursing experience: directly from the B.S. in Nursing or post–Master of Science in Nursing.

PhD in Nursing and Bioethics >>

This dual-title degree option provides Nursing PhD students with the skills and knowledge necessary to fully engage ethical issues within the discipline of nursing, to conduct original bioethics research, and produce bioethics-related scholarship. Students on this path explore the skills and knowledge needed to address ethical issues, conduct original bioethics research, and produce related scholarship.

PhD in Nursing and Clinical Translational Science >>

The dual-title degree option provides Nursing PhD students with additional preparation for career paths that involve clinical trials or clinical research programs. Further, the program builds on the outcomes of the Ph.D. in Nursing by providing value-added training and scholarship, offering novel coursework and training beyond the primary program, integrating clinical and translational research into dissertation work, enhancing methodological and analytical skills, and expanding career opportunities within nursing and health sciences.

GRADUATE CERTIFICATES

Nurse Administrator >>

This certificate is designed as a “stand-alone” certificate or can serve as a “step-up” to the Nurse Administrator option in the Master of Science in Nursing degree. When you have successfully completed our nurse administrator certificate program, you may apply the credits toward the master’s degree, if granted admission to enter the highly competitive program.
