GSA: Student Research Awards
The Behavioral and Social Sciences Section presents two awards for student papers: one at the pre-dissertation level and one at the dissertation level. Eligibility at the pre-dissertation level is limited to student members enrolled in doctoral programs who do not yet have their doctorate degree. Eligibility at the dissertation level is limited to student members who are no more than 18 months post doctorate by the final submission deadline.

Applicants must be a student/ESPO member of the Behavioral and Social Sciences section.

GSA: Person-in-Training Award
The Person-in-Training Award is given to a student of the Health Sciences section for the best student paper at the Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting. The award is designed to encourage research and to foster interest among students in the Health Sciences section and to encourage participation in the Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting.
In order to apply for this award, you must submit an abstract for the Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting. Once the abstract has been accepted, a 1,500-word paper by the trainee (describing the research) must be submitted by the deadline below. The paper must be accompanied by a letter from the student’s advisor verifying that the submitted work is the student’s. The award is made on the basis of the paper.
Who is Eligible
Applicants must be a student member of the Health Sciences section.
Applicants must be enrolled in a doctoral program and can not have their doctoral degree.
List of Specific Criteria
Applicants’ abstracts must be accepted for the Annual Scientific Meeting.
Once accepted, applicants must submit a 1,500-word paper describing the research.
The paper must be accompanied by a letter from the student’s advisor, this letter must verify the work is the applicant’s.

Self Nomination Process
In order to submit for this award, upload two copies of your paper (one blinded, one not), a letter from your advisor, and abstract control ID using the online nominations portal by July 31. Your submission must be based on your accepted abstract.
Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania: Clinical Practice
Clinical Practice
This award is given to a licensed practical nurse, registered professional nurse and an advanced practice registered nurse. Nurses nominated for this award are recognized for providing outstanding quality of patient care, superior nursing clinical skills, and extraordinary compassion. Exceptional communication skills enhance their contribution to the health needs of the community while advancing the profession.

- Clinical Practice LPN
- Clinical Advanced Practice RN
- Nurse Midwives
- Nurse Practicioners
- Certified Nurse Anesthetists
- Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Masters prepared nurses working in an advanced practice setting
- Clinical Practice RN
- Community Nurse RN or LPN
Non-acute care, i.e. hospice/home care, parish nurse, school nurse

Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania: Nursing Research
Nursing Research

Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania: Evidence-Based Practice Nursing

Nominees for this award exhibit healthcare improvements and contributions via practice and clinical scholarship; demonstrate noteworthy involvement or influence in healthcare policy and advocacy; contribute to inter-professional collaboration and improve patient and/or population health; and significantly contribute to the advancement of nursing practice.
